DMD, MPH, DHEd

Why Orthodontics?

Dr. Jeremiah Sturgill grew up in the small town of Big Stone Gap in southwestern Virginia. He knew he wanted to be an orthodontist as a teenager.

After seeing how much braces changed his smile, he was inspired to help others achieve similar success through orthodontic treatment.

Education & Experience

Dr. Sturgill kicked off his academic journey by attending King University in Bristol, Tennessee on an academic scholarship.

He graduated with honors and earned dual degrees in biology and business administration.

After college, Dr. Sturgill went to dental school at Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health, located just outside of Phoenix.

Again, he opted for the dual major route getting his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and Master of Public Health (MPH) degrees.

Dr. Sturgill completed the postgraduate orthodontic and dentofacial orthopedics program and graduated with a specialty certificate in orthodontics and a Doctorate in Health Education (DHEd).

He was also chosen to participate an in implant osseointegration study at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.

He wrapped up his training by serving as chief resident for his program and completing rotations at the St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center – Barrow Neurological Institute Cleft and Craniofacial Center. Phew! That was a lot of schooling!

Beyond the Practice

Outside of the office, Dr. Sturgill, his wife, and their children Pelegren, Theodore, and Sebastian enjoy hiking, camping, horseback riding and skiing.

They’re also active in their church, Redeemer Community Church, and have taken mission trips across the globe visiting everywhere from the rainforests of Uganda to the waters of the Amazon River all the way to the northern villages of the Arctic Circle.

Despite their love of travel and adventure, there’s no place the Sturgills would rather practice than northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia.

It not only provides them the chance to be close to their families but also grants them the ability to serve the communities they cherish.
